It seems incredible, but the first part of I am Legend was released more than 15 years ago and we will finally see its second part in the cinema. As we announced last year in this film, Will Smith will have a new partner, the actor, Michael B. Jordan. However, the doubt that the fans had was how the second part would continue after the death of the protagonist.
They already had enough details of the filmsuch as the change of director, in the first film the person in charge of directing it was Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games, Constantine, Red Sparrow…) and now the person in charge will be Akiva Goldsman (scriptwriter of films like I, Robot, The Code Da Vinci, Cindarella Man or Beautiful Mind among others). It is also known that the sequel will take place several decades after the events that occurred in the first tape. But how will the character of Will, Dr. Robert Neville, be brought back to life?

Well, as we had already told you last year, Warner had rescued an alternative ending that they had recorded for the I Am Legend movie. This is not just a simple director’s cut, but rather a one hundred and eighty degree turn to the final plot. So, we recommend you watch it.
In this ending, as you may have seen, Will Smith’s character does not die and, therefore, a year ago we commented that it would be a good place to start the new plot. Well, in an interview with the director and screenwriter who will be in charge of the film, Akiva Goldsman for Deadline, has revealed that as we thought, the film will continue from the alternate ending.
What we don’t know is if they will show this ending before the start of the movie or if they will warn the viewers, because it can be a bit confusing if you just watched the first part to refresh what was happening, after all it’s been 15 years, It’s not so easy to remember and you get to the movie theater and you find something that has no connection at all. Hopefully they can fix this bug in the most elegant way possible.
On the other hand, Goldsman faces a very difficult challenge, since the other film was a real success, managing to raise 585 million dollars.. This will be truly complicated due to several factors, the first being the fame that Will Smith has taken after attacking comedian Chris Rock at the last Oscars gala and another handicap would be that theater attendance has not yet recovered after the global health crisis.
We hope that part of this solution was to add to Michael B. Jordan, an actor who is completely on the rise, appearing in the Creed saga and in other films such as the famous Black Panther. In any case, from here we really want to see it, what’s more, the fact that several decades have passed from the plot of one film to another can be something very interesting that raises some interest in going to see it.
