The developer of “Alan Wake Remastered” reports that he has not yet received royalties. Shows the expectations for long-term sales of wrinkles – AUTOMATON

announcement

Developer Remedy Entertainment announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2022 on October 28, local time. Among them, he reported that no royalties were accrued for “Alan Wake Remastered,” suggesting that it may not have crossed the break-even point yet.

Alan Wake Remastered is a remastered version of the 2010 psychological action thriller Alan Wake. Distributed by Epic Games Publishing, it was released for PC (Epic Games Store) / PS4 / PS5 / Xbox One / Xbox Series X | S in October last year. A Nintendo Switch version was also released in October of this year.

The main character of this work is Alan Wake, a successful suspense author. After falling into a crisis, he visits the small rural town of Bright Falls with his wife Alice to rest, but Alice is missing. Alan, who is on his way in search, is attacked by a mysterious enemy covered in darkness. This work is characterized by a gameplay that makes use of light and dark. In addition, the highly dramatic story development is also interesting, in which the existence of a new novel that Alan himself has not yet worked on is a mystery.

The remastered version includes two types of expansion content for the main game. And the graphics have been updated and resolution and frame rate improvements have also been implemented. And after the release of this work, it won a high rating by approaching the original version from both the media and users. Not only new users, but also users who have already played the original version say it is worth playing (Metacritical)。

But this time Remedy EntertainmentpublicationAccording to the company, it has not received any royalties for the film at the moment. It is not known what type of contract the studio has with Epic Games Publishing, but in general there are many contracts in which royalties are generated when profits exceed the break-even point. This work has received praise and was recently developed on the PlayStation platform, but sales may not be satisfying. However, as the new Nintendo Switch version has just been released, sales are likely to increase further.

Remedy Entertainment commented that each title has different royalty requirements and not all of them are under the control of the company. Furthermore, it is assumed that the latest works published from the end of 2021 to the first half of 2022 will continue to sell for many years. The company also appears to have a long-term view regarding Alan Wake Remastered’s revenue.

As for the new work “Alan Wake 2”, development is said to be in full swing for launch in 2023. We have conducted game tests and received feedback from them as we proceed with development, and have been told that we will be able to publish it as a wonderful work.

A small team is currently working on remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne in collaboration with Rockstar Games. Control’s spin-off, Codename Condor, is in the concept phase. The free-to-play cooperative multiplayer game “Vanguard”, marketed in collaboration with Tencent, was also reported to be in the concept stage.
