The decline in car production continues. By July, it had fallen by 30 percent

Production in July alone fell by five percent and was affected by summer holidays. For example, the TPCA factory was announced in July this year, while in 2019 it was not until August, and Škoda Auto then spread the holidays evenly between the two holiday months. For the whole of this year, the car association expects a drop in production of at least one-fifth.

“We continue to see significant fluctuations in the automotive industry. Due to the 5% year-on-year decline in passenger car production, July itself can be assessed positively, but now, in addition to the market situation, different dates for the summer holidays this year and last year speak into the statistics. We will be able to get an overall picture of further development and customer interest after the third quarter, but we still expect at least a fifth decline at the end of this year, “said the president of the association, Bohdan Wojnar.

The damage shifted to a higher speed

The gradual reduction in the production decline caused by the coronavirus pandemic was due to an increase in Škoda Auto’s production in July compared to previous months, when the carmaker produced 53,353 vehicles, a quarter more than last year. Nošický Huyndai produced 114,740 cars by the end of July this year, which is a decrease of 39 percent, in TPCA production fell by 40 percent to 80,660 cars.

According to Wojnar, car manufacturers cannot do without the help of the state, which in the case of the automotive industry would have a significant multiplier effect for other sectors.

“I firmly believe that the government will support companies in the field of employment by extending the Antivirus programs until the introduction of systemic exchange work and at the same time introduce other measures to support the competitiveness of Czech companies, such as accelerated depreciation, direct investment in technology, infrastructure, science and research and education. , “He added.

Bus production continues to catch up with the loss caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In seven months, it fell by eight percent to 2,728 vehicles. In July alone, 497 buses were produced, ie 11.7 percent more than last year. Vysokomýtské Iveco produced 2,473 buses, which is a year-on-year decrease of 7.6 percent.

The only motorcycle manufacturer, Týnec Jawa, produced 278 motorcycles this year. Compared to the previous year, this represents a decrease of 69.9 percent.
