the decline continues in the hospital but contaminations are on the rise

4,442 new contaminations were recorded in the last 24 hours, compared to 2,600 a week ago

The number of Covid-19 patients in hospital and in critical care services continued to decline, but the number of contaminations continues its upward trend, according to data from Public Health France published on Thursday. In total, 7,384 Covid patients are hospitalized, compared to 7,539 on Wednesday. And 971 serious cases are being treated in critical care units, up from 997 cases Wednesday and about 2,400 a month earlier. The number of patients in critical care due to Covid fell below 1,000 on Wednesday, for the first time since September 23.

But if the hospital’s numbers continue to drop, the number of cases has tended to increase again in recent days, which is attributed to the Delta variant, which is more contagious.

According to Public Health France, 4,442 new contaminations were recorded in the last 24 hours, against 4,081 the day before and around 2,600 a week ago. The test positivity rate is also up to 1%, from 0.9% on Wednesday.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 35,333,191 people have received at least one injection (ie 52.4% of the total population) and 26,302,376 people have been fully vaccinated (ie 39% of the population).
