The Deadly Task of Disposing Russian Mines: A Bloody Process During the Ukrainian Offensive

Disposal of Russian mines is the bloodiest process during the Ukrainian offensive. Constant demining destroys the military princes that NATO countries adhere to. This was stated by the German brigadier general, head of the situational center for Ukraine at the Ministry of Defense of Germany, Christian Freuding.

“This“ opening ”of the area defended by the Russians is currently taking place at the cost of a lot of blood for the Ukrainian units. Sometimes deminers have to crawl through minefields on their stomachs and defuse one mine after another, doing life-threatening work by hand, ”said Christian Freuding, his words are quoted T-Online. He also noted that NATO countries have a different approach to demining. If the soldiers see large-scale minefields, then they move to another sector of the front.

Freiding shared that many deminers were killed or seriously injured. This happened in the early days of the counter-offensive, when Ukrainian soldiers first encountered minefields. According to Freuding, the Russian army mined an area that is equal to about half the territory of the whole of Germany.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Russian mines have strong psychological pressure. The fact is that the minefields are large, and the Ukrainian army has not yet been able to cross them along the entire front line. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost about 26 thousand soldiers.
