Since an escalation of coronavirus cases was noticed in Mar del Plata, the Municipality began the study of the possible epidemiological link in the two main sources of contagion in the city: the Hospital Houssay and the geriatric Namasté.
This Tuesday, sources close to the Municipality trusted THE CAPITAL a fact that could be key in the link between both establishments: the daughter of a Houssay nurse worked in the nursing home.
From June 30 to the present, Mar del Plata went from having 49 confirmed cases of coronavirus to the alarming number 216. The main reason for this increase was the large number of cases in both establishments, which practically occurred simultaneously.
So far, and taking into account patients / residents, workers and families, the Houssay Hospital has accumulated a total of 73 confirmed, while the geriatric hospital a total of 65.
This link can explain the chronology and the epidemiological trace in the two most important centers of the city. Previously there had been speculation that the patient “zero” had been a cook, since her son is a firefighter from Batán and was infected last week. However, the cook tested negative, so this new link could come to define the chain of contagion.
Other possible contacts between the Houssay and the geriatric Namasté are also analyzed.
