The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a replacement for Dak Prescott

The Cowboys’ patience is beginning to wear thin around their quarterback Dak Prescott, as his performance has not been as expected by the Texan franchise since his arrival in 2016.

In 7 seasons with the Cowboys, he has averaged 66.6% completion rates, while having 24,943 passing yards, 166 touchdown passes, 65 defensive interceptions and a 97.8% passer rating.

After the disagreement, everything indicates that the Dallas team would be very interested in integrating a new quarterback into its ranks and it is already being followed closely, as it is one of the great prospects for the next NFL Draft.

According to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher, the Cowboys have Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud on their radar.

He would be the number one candidate for the Texas organization, but being one of the best prospects in the NFL for the next draft, an arrival at the Dallas team looks complicated. Since you have to remember that the Cowboys have the 26th overall pick, they would have to do some negotiations or trades if they want to do everything possible to access the QB.

Another organization that has shown interest in taking over the services of the Ohio State quarterback is the Las Vegas Raiders.

Stroud played two seasons with the Buckeyes, in his last campaign he completed 66.3% of his throws for 3,688 yards; getting 41 touchdowns and only suffering six interceptions.

He managed to advance to the NCAA semifinals, and fell silent in a very even match 42-41 against the Georgia Bulldogs, who would become the monarchs of last season.

Another option for the position would be Cooper Rush, who is in his second stint with the team. The University of Central Michigan graduate spent his first three NFL seasons backing Prescott in Dallas, but he played only 26 total snaps in five games and completed one pass on three attempts.

The Cowboys let Rush go last year when they signed the experienced Andy Dalton as Prescott’s backup. He then went to the New York Giants, but was released shortly thereafter.

He rejoined the Cowboys in October of last year, and his performances in the 2021 preseason landed him as Prescott’s replacement.

Rush is 27 years old and could be an alternative for the position, should he not get the young Stroud.
