In just three weeks, HBO Max will start in the first European countries, but the Czechia will unfortunately wait until the beginning of next year. The media company WarnerMedia, which operates the platform, has at least saturated us with new information so far.
The current exception that Warner Bros. movies will end next year. they go to the cinemas on the same day as the stream. They will now have silver canvases 45-day exclusivity and only then will the new movies appear in the HBO Max menu.
We know such prices, although not yet the Czech ones. It will be in the eurozone monthly fee state 9 eur (230 CZK), which is significantly more than the current CZK 159 for domestic HBO Go. But Max, on the other hand, also offers discounted annual tariff for 70 euros, where the month costs CZK 150.
HBO Max also wants to increase the share of local content. It would be said “following the example of Netflix”, but HBO has historically been very prolific in Europe before its rival. Only in the Czech Republic has HBO made the praised series Therapy, Wasteland, Unconscious, Mamon or the film Burning Bush. Netflix is filming in our country, but it is a foreign production.
As a tasting, WarnerMedia today released the first preview of the new series House of the Dragon (in Czech Rod Draka) by George RR Martin. The novelty is the prequel of the Game of Thrones, which takes place 200 years before the events of the “recently” ended saga.
