The Czech government is considering applying to the European Commission for a sum of 14.3 billion euros. As the daily Hospodářské noviny said on Thursday, the loan will be used for investments that will help reduce dependence on Russia in the energy sector.
Europe Minister Mikuláš Bek (Stan) told the ČTK press agency that the matter was just beginning. According to the Hospodářské noviny newspaper, the cabinet of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Citizens’ Democrats) has already informed the EU Commission without obligation that they are interested in such a loan.
