The Czech biathlete Veronika Vitkova ended her career at the age of 31.
“A new stage in my life is beginning,” said the 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the sprint on Thursday of the CTK agency. Together with the former biathlon trainer Marek Lejsek, she is expecting her first child.
Vitkova won gold at the 2015 World Championships in Kontiolahti with the mixed relay. She was also there when the Czech Republic won silver in the mixed relay at the Sochi Olympic Games a year earlier.
