As reported by “Puls Biznesu”, Central Communication Port began preparations for nature analyzes necessary for the construction of a 140-kilometer long railway from Warsaw to Łódź. Trains will run at a speed of 250 km / h.

“PwC analyzes so far show that the construction of 1 kilometer of the railway line in Poland costs PLN 40-60 million, but these calculations will be verified. According to them, the Łódź-Warsaw line would cost PLN 5.6-8.4 billion” – he said in an interview from “PB” Mikołaj Wild, president CPK.

PKP PLK is building its own tunnel

Interestingly, in the vicinity of the station, modernization works are already carried out by PKP PLK. According to the investment, the line from Warsaw to Łódź will be connected to an underground tunnel to the Łódź Fabryczna station and will run through Wrocław and Wałbrzych to the state border. The cost of building the tunnel by PKP PLK significantly exceeds PLN 1.5 billion. CPK, however, wants to have its own connection. According to Wild, the investments will fill the spaces of the Łódź Fabryczna station with “streams of passengers”.

– Preparations for this investment are advanced. In the next few days we will start a very important stage, which we will inform about – Konrad Majszyk, spokesman of the CPK, said in an interview with “PB”. Documentation of the tender for the development of the spatial and program concept and construction design is to be under preparation.

According to the portal, the construction of a tunnel from the Łódź Fabryczna station running under the city center and the station is being considered Boat Kaliska, and then at ul. Karolewska and Bratysławska on the south-eastern edge of the Retkinia estate. The end of the tunnel is planned near the railway line No. 14 on the Łódź Kaliska-Lublinek section.

Experts are surprised by the decision of the CPK authorities

Jakub Majewski, president of the ProKolej Foundation, was surprised that at least a tunnel PKP PLK is not ready yet, we are already getting ready to build another one. Michał Beim, an expert of the Sobieski Institute, stated that the construction of the CPK connector would increase the investment costs by several billion zlotys.

According to the expert, first the focus should be on the construction of the PKP PLK connector, and in the next stage, when the airport will be able to handle large flows of passengers, prepare a variant of the construction of the CPK tunnel. He points out, however, that in the event of the development of the connections of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway, the second tunnel may prove useful.
