La requirement to present the covid passport with a complete vaccination schedule, negative PCR 72 hours before or antigen test 48 hours to enter nightlife venues, celebrations or mass events has triggered the first dose vaccinations. In fact, This Thursday, the first day in force of the order of the Government of Aragon, 1,171 first doses were punctured in a single day, when the average of the last weeks was between 800 and 1,000 in a week. In fact, on day 18, 582 first doses were administered; and a day before, 288. So the incentive to get vaccinated that Health intended with this measure seems to have taken effect.

Those who had already been vaccinated have also come en masse to ask for the pin at their health center to be able to download the covid passport. This Thursday 17,187 supporting documents were requested, 11,599 online and 5,588 face-to-face; while a day before (when the obligation to present it was announced) there were 15,453 (12,870 downloads and 2,583 face-to-face). On November 23,: 3,607 and 960, respectively; and a week before 2,953 and 716.

Precisely, Javier Lambán has assured this morning in the Courts that the appointments to be vaccinated have risen “exponentially” with the covid passport in Aragon. With the Constitution bridge just around the corner, the spokesman for Citizens in the Cortes of Aragon, Daniel Perez Calvo, has wanted to obtain from the Aragonese president a clear answer about how the next festivities will be in the autonomous community before the increase in infections. The President of Aragon, Javier Lambán, has responded emphatically: “The Government of Aragon is going to do everything possible so that everything develops normally and there are no restrictions on movement.”

However, Lambán recalled, from the beginning of the pandemic health and political authorities have learned not to make “resounding assertions”, as a runaway increase in infections could lead to other decisions.

To this day, the Aragonese chief executive has stated that his “conviction” is that “at Christmas and on the bridge, families and establishments will be able to enjoy it normally”.

In fact, he has shown “weighting” in the taking of measures by the Government of Aragon and has defended the implementation of the covid passport as the “only weighted measure” that could be taken now. The leader of Cs had reproached him for such measures being taken “indiscriminately”. “Restrictions can never be the first option”, has claimed, before requesting again that awareness be promoted for vaccination and the initiation of the inoculation of doses to minors. All with the aim of “shielding the most sacred right to freedom,” said Pérez Calvo.

The Aragonese president has reminded him that “the right to individual freedom ends when it can cause harm to others.” In defense of “weighted” measures, Lambán stressed that the autonomous communities declined to implement the hotel industry interior closures and changes in schedules that came to be on the ministry’s table.

Boost for vaccination

In relation to one of the first effects of the covid passport in Aragon, the Aragonese president has ensured that “the increase in requests from those not vaccinated to get vaccinated has been exponential” in recent hours. Lambán has defended that the implementation of the covid certificate has developed “quite normally” and has once again emphasized that vaccination is the best response against the virus. “The unvaccinated are now a kind of clockmaking bomb”, has come to say.

The leader of the quadripartite has recalled in parliament, in addition, the “abysmal difference” in hospitalizations and the ucis that the vaccination has caused, even though similar numbers of infections can be registered. “The only thing that deserves confidence in the face of the virus is vaccination,” he remarked.
