Two judges of the Court of Appeal dismissed Depa’s application to challenge the lower court’s ruling on the 2018 publication The Sun.

The trial before the High Court was “complete and fair” and the judge “gave detailed reasons for his findings,” the judges of the Court of Appeal said.

In a November judgment, a judge ordered Dep Dep to pay The Sun publishers News Group Newspapers (NGN) £ 628,000 (€ 733,000) in legal costs.

In his appeal, Depot’s lawyers this month expressed doubts about the actor’s former wife Emberas Herd’s allegations in the original defamation lawsuit.

The Sun spokeswoman welcomed the verdict on Thursday.

“The case was heard fully, fairly and properly, and today’s decision confirms the courageous testimony given by Embera Herd to the court about domestic violence, despite the perpetrator’s repeated efforts to harm and silence,” a Sun spokeswoman said.

Depot’s case against NGN and The Sun’s editor-in-chief, Den Wuton, attracted international attention.

The newspaper claimed that Depp had attacked Herd while the two were still in a relationship.

The two actors met on the set of the film “The Rum Diary”. In 2015, they got married.

In May 2016, Herd filed for divorce from Depa due to his emotional and physical abuse.
