A man from Coevorden is infected with the corona virus. Minister Bruno Bruins of Health and RIVM report this at a press conference on Sunday afternoon. He celebrated carnival in Tilburg.

It is the first patient in the northern Netherlands who is infected with the virus. The man fell ill, was tested and turned out to be positive. It is not yet clear how he contracted the virus, writes the RIVM.
The man was three days in Tilburg for the carnival, where another infected man was already walking around. Whether he has contracted the corona virus there is still being investigated. Alternative explanations are also considered.
No children live in the house with the man, says spokesperson for GGD Drenthe Laura Kroes. That means that it is probably not necessary to close schools. A contact investigation is performed immediately.
