The Corona Regulations – – The cabin people «greater risk» than pouring

– This week, Innlandet is invaded by 100,000 cabin tourists. If you ask me, it will pose a greater risk that the infection will increase, than that we will be allowed to serve alcohol locally.

The mayor of Hamar, Einar Busterud (BBL), told Dagbladet, after he stated to the local newspaper on Wednesday Hamar Arbeiderblad that he would rather ban cabins than stop drinking.

It was under Tuesday’s press conference that the Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie (H) announced that a full liquor ban will be introduced throughout Norway from and including Thursday this week. The ban initially applies until 12 April.

– I understand that it is a difficult dilemma for national authorities, but for us, the cabin people from Oslo and Viken will probably be a bigger challenge.

Shops locally

Busterud further says that those who have visited the nightclubs in Mjøsbyen have behaved very well and that they have not had any problems related to the attachment and spread of corona infection.

The municipality has according to its own websites had a total of 419 cases of infection since the beginning of the pandemic.

– The cabin tourists have been encouraged to shop at home, but suddenly they must have an extra jacket, may have forgotten some food, or need an extra trip to Vinmonopolet.

– Do you think it will happen?

– We saw trends for it already this weekend, Busterud says.

Respects the decision

The mayor says that they already address the dilemma in meetings with the State Administrator, but that they also respect the decision of the central authorities.

– I hope that the authorities after Easter will look at the regulations again and then give greater parts of the responsibility to those who decide locally.

– If that happens, will you open the taps in Hamar again?

– It all depends on the infection situation.
