The Controversial Remake of “Amphibian Man”: A Disappointing Result

The result was terrible.

Viewers always react extremely painfully to remakes of film masterpieces from the USSR. And the cult film “Amphibian Man” was no exception to this rule.

The brainchild of Vladimir Chebotarev and Gennady Kazansky was published back in 1961. And in 2004, director Alexander Atanesyan presented his interpretation to the world. He directed a series called “Amphibian Man. Sea Devil”.

The main roles were played by Said Dashuk-Nigmatulin and Yulia Samoilenko. They failed to surpass their predecessors, the legendary Vladimir Korenev and Anastasia Vertinskaya. Many are indignant and do not understand why it was necessary to despise the eternal classic.

Viewers are confident that no one will ever be able to outshine one of the most beautiful couples of Soviet cinema. However, Atanesyan did not set himself such a difficult task. According to the filmmaker, neither he nor the project team ever claimed people’s love, but only wanted to show their vision of their favorite story.
