As “Delfi” informs the representatives of JVLMA, the concert will feature new works by composers Ilona Breģe, Leonīds Lobrevs, Georgs Pelēčs and Anitra Tumševica, created in the unique concert series “New works by Latvian composers for the Latvian Academy of Music”.

The October concert has been named “Continuation” – this is how the composer Anitra Tumševica has named her third chamber symphony in a row, which has become a large-scale work, an extensive, musical event in which the author shares her memories of historical turning points in Latvia.

“I take the name” Continuation “symbolically, because this concert is also a continuation of my relationship with the orchestra. The last live concert of the orchestra took place in March 2020. We have not met for a very long time , “says the conductor Kaspars Ādamsons. He admits that opening the season with a new work concert for the symphony orchestra is not an easy task. “Five symphonic works are a large volume, and playing a composition for the first time is a huge responsibility. The composition is made several times – first in the composer’s work and score, but it really happens in a concert when the music meets the listener.

The premiere of the symphonic music will also feature the Ilona Breģe Concert Tertiary Symphony Orchestra and “Variations of the Wave Song” (symphonic variations on the theme of Jāzeps Vītols’ piano work “The Song of the Waves”), Leonid Lobrev’s ” for symphony orchestra.

The compositions of the concert series “New Works of Latvian Composers for the Latvian Academy of Music” were commissioned by JVLMA, with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation’s (SCCF) target program “Future Culture Offer”. Never before have so many original music compositions been made in a short period of time for the needs of the only music school in Latvia. In cooperation with the Latvian Composers’ Union, 29 composers have responded to JVLMA’s invitation and a total of 35 new works have been made – 18 compositions for various chamber ensembles, 6 works for orchestra and 11 choir songs.

The concert cycle will continue on November 10 with a chamber music program for wind instruments and on December 17 with premieres of choir songs.

The Academy of Music invites to concerts of new works by Latvian composers! Tickets can be purchased only in advance at “Biļešu paradīze” box offices.

Entrance to JVLMA premises only with a valid Covid-19 certificate (confirming the fact of vaccination, disease) or a negative test, face mask and identity document.
