Since the company is not a cold entity defined by quantified performance, the 36And The Business Days edition, inaugurated on Friday 9 December 2022, in Sousse, on the theme “Enterprise and security: freedom and sovereignty” is planning a special session on the theme “Social unrest and corporate sustainability”.
For the Arab Institute of Entrepreneurs (IACE), organizer of the Days, it is a question of continuing the debate between entrepreneurs and other players in social life, who are often confronted with the same challenges and emergencies.
Responding to those who feel that the Tunisian General Union of Labor (UGTT) has outgrown its role of opposing government policies, union center secretary general Noureddine Taboubi said: “Every organization is required to defend its members and the government should guarantee the basic needs of the people he said”.
Taboubi believes that the UGTT’s role is to defend the interests of employees when they are threatened and in particular their purchasing power which is crumbling due to the economic crisis and rising prices.
Speaking in the same session together with Abdelbasset Ben Hassen, president of the Arab Institute for Human Rights, Mohamed Habib Kchaou, former minister of health and social affairs, Khaled Sellami, director general of the Essilor Sivo, Taboubi said: “We will do like IACE and organize Business Days with the participation of trade unionists, entrepreneurs and government officials”a way of saying that the good health of the company is inseparable from the well-being of its employees, and vice versa.
Agreeing, Khaled Sellami said: “It is not enough to improve the purchasing power of citizens, it is also necessary to facilitate their access to public health and education services”believing that well-being cannot be guaranteed by simple wage increases, if the State does not also play its role in improving the general living climate of citizens, but also of businesses.
Emphasizing for his part the importance of the climate of trust which must reign in public life between the various components of society in order to emerge from the crisis, relaunch the economy and improve the general living conditions of citizens, Abdelbasset Ben Hassen called for the strengthening social pact, which, according to him, could not coexist with what he called “the culture of guilt and violence”trust must, according to him, pass through dialogue, respect for freedoms and rights and the creation of conditions for coexistence.
