The College of Doctors denounces the celebration of a pseudoscience activity in Salamanca | Radio Salamanca

He Official College of Physicians of Salamanca has informed the competent judicial and municipal authorities of the call for a pseudoscience activity in a central restaurant in Salamanca aimed at the general public. This is a conference on ‘the surprising and innovative support of chromoson-therapy’ in childhood anxiety and stress, given by a French psychomotricist and an Italian physical therapist.

From the College of Physicians it is considered that the lack of evidence accepted by the scientific community on this approach “It is a clear risk for the population, even more so in this case in which it is an activity aimed at those responsible for minors, a particularly vulnerable sector of the population”, explained Dr. Santiago Santa Cruz, president of the College of Physicians, an entity that through its Observatory of Pseudotherapies wants to put a stop to any practice without scientific evidence carried out in Salamanca.

“We cannot admit cheating to patients, much less if there is only an economic interest behind it to sell products, in most cases very expensive, or with the aim of recruiting users towards a certain pseudotherapy, because the only therapy valid is the one that has scientific evidence ”, adds Santa Cruz.

The Salamanca College of Physicians has requested the suspension of the activity to those responsible for the restaurant, without for the moment having agreed to it.

The announcement and publicity of acts of pseudotherapies without scientific evidence can put the population at serious risk and constitute a danger to public health. Likewise, they warn that the publicized pseudotherapies could be constituent, among others, of a crime of professional intrusion and may also incur in misleading advertising to potential consumers.

Along these lines, the Official College of Physicians of Salamanca and the Department of Public Health and Consumption of the City of Salamanca are expected to start a line of collaboration to end this type of activity in the city.
