Mexico City- The partial closure of the shared border with the United States will continue until September 21 due to the fact that the southern states of that country have a rebound in the number of cases of contagion, said the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard.

“We already told the United States that we are of the idea that it should be prolonged because of what we have on the strip on their side. They have now a resurgence in the southern part, so the border could not be opened right now, and in some states we are going more or less down, “he said when questioned on the subject, after leading an event with the Foundation for Health.

For five months, only essential crossings that have to do with trade, emergencies or legal matters have been allowed.

However, the crossing is restricted for family visits, tourism or recreation.

So far, the restrictions have been extended five times.
