– The Associated Press reported on the 27th (local time) that the Medical Board of California will investigate plastic surgeons who participated in a traffic law violation trial held by video in an operating room.
Dr. Scott Green, a plastic surgeon, attended the Sacramento Superior Court trial held at the ZOOM video conference due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the operating room on the 25th. He replied, “It is possible to have a trial,” saying, “I am in the operating room” to the court official’s question if he could attend the trial.
According to foreign media such as AP, Dr. Green was wearing a surgical suit at the time and the sound of operating medical devices was heard. Media reported that while waiting for the judge to enter the courtroom, he appeared to be performing surgery with his head down.
When the judge who watched the screen said, “I don’t think it’s appropriate to proceed with a trial in this situation,” worried about the patient’s safety, Dr. Green apologized, saying, “Surgery doesn’t always go like this.”
In this regard, the California State Medical Commission said it would investigate the case, saying, “We expect doctors to follow the standards of care when treating patients.”
