The Challenges of Special Forces VIPS: Recruits’ Struggle with Recovery and Health Issues

The whole group is complete again to look back together on their participation in Special Forces VIPS. When Thijs and Jorien arrive, they are welcomed by the other recruits with a big round of applause. Thijs says he has good memories of the program: “It was terribly tough, but something to never forget.”

The finalists did, however, have a lot of complaints left over from the week in Bulgaria. For example, Thijs needs a long time to recover from the training: “The first thing I did at home was take a long, hot shower. Then I lay down on the couch, from which I hardly got rid of for a week.” Thijs then becomes seriously ill: “I lost ten kilos and my resistance had completely disappeared.”

Once home, finalist Jorien also struggles with the necessary problems: “It went well at first, I mainly started eating a lot. I think I ate for a month in the first few days at home.” After those first days, however, her health went downhill: “After that I became very ill and my lungs started to bother me again. For weeks I was off and on sick.” She also has the same lung problems during her participation Special Forces VIPS: “This was not a reason to give up, but it did make the program more difficult for me.”

Both recruits nevertheless look back on an amazing adventure. Nevertheless, we will not see Jorien again in a possible new season of the program: “This was the first, but certainly also the last time. Never again will I push the limits of my physicality so much!”

The reunion episode of Special Forces VIPS can now be seen at Videoland.

In the latest episode of I give up Jorien tells about the enormous impact the training had on her at the time. For example, the skater feels so bad that she suffers from hallucinations.
