The “Center Party” offers only eight candidates for the Riga City Council elections. Jānis Valtervitenheim, who has been nominated as the president of the “Association of Latvian Catholic Students and Academicians Dzintars”, will be the first candidate on the list, but he will be followed by Normunds Grostiņš and Andžejs Zdanovičs.

In its program, the party is the first to emphasize that it has officially proposed dismissing the Saeima. The party also welcomed the dismissal of the Riga City Council. “We offer 30 deputies instead of 60 deputies in Riga and 50 deputies in the Saeima instead of 100. This will save millions of euros in a few years,” the party writes in the program, although the local government does not decide on changes in the law.

The party promises to reduce heating costs, repair the streets, gradually introduce free public transport for all residents of Riga and prevent “raids in the center of Riga”.

Tomorrow, the submission of lists for the Riga City Council’s extraordinary elections will end, and Kokins knew that three more parties – KPV LV, “Jaunā taisa” and “Rīkības partija” – plan to submit their lists, so a total of 14 political forces could apply for seats in the municipality.

So far in the elections registered party association “Development / For!” and the joint list of the party “Progressive”, New Conservative Party, “Honor to serve Riga”, party “Harmony”, unions “All Latvia!” – “Fatherland and Freedom” / LNNK and Latvian Association of Regions joint list, “New Unity”, Green and the Farmers’ Union, the “Alternative” party, the “United Latvia” party and the Latvian Russian Union.
