The campaign will inform seniors how to avoid fraudsters

LSKA informed that seniors are the population group that can be caught by the activities of fraudsters most often.

“If an elderly person receives a message on his smartphone or e-mail, for example, allegedly from the State Revenue Service, e-health, or a notification that a case has been initiated against him, which is planned to be heard in court in a day or two, he is likely to be worried will also follow the directions, click on the attached links and provide all the required information without even realizing that they have fallen victim to fraudsters. That is why it is very important to inform seniors about all these schemes, teach them to recognize them and also how to act,” said Lilita Kalnāja, deputy chairwoman of the LSKA board.

On the other hand, LSKA’s board chair Astrida Babāne pointed out that as part of the financial literacy week, a seminar on digital skills was held at LSKA’s “Senior School”, during which Inga Pinka, head of the loan monitoring department of JSC “DelfinGroup”, informed seniors about the risks in the digital and real environment, and how avoid them in order not to lose money and safety.

At the seminar, seniors were told about investment and high-profit bidders, donations, inheritances and the latest fraud schemes, as well as acted out real-life situations in which seniors gained practical skills in recognizing fraud and protecting their data.
