Farmers can apply calibration of the equipment for applying products for plant protection on site in their holdings. The requirements and the procedure for carrying out periodic inspections of the equipment for applying plant protection products (OPPRZ) are specified in Ordinance No. 5 of February 3, 2016 of the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the document, the owners of the equipment must contact the territorial units of the Main Directorate “Agriculture and Regional Policy” – Testing and Certification Center in the city of Ruse or in the city of Plovdiv and request an inspection by filling out a request.
After drawing up a schedule, a team is sent to the farms, which has mobile stations, fully equipped with the necessary measuring tools to check the serviceability and safety of the OPPRZ. The duration to check each machine is in the interval from 90 to 120 min.
Upon successful inspection, the owners are provided with a certificate and a sticker for passing the inspection for technical fitness, in terms of operator health and protection of crops and the environment.
According to Ordinance No. 5, periodic inspections of new equipment for applying plant protection products are carried out up to 5 years after its purchase. After 2020, a requirement to check equipment every 3 years has been introduced.
