The Cabildo de Tenerife ceases Ansina and prepares a new care program for the elderly | Radio Club Tenerife

The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife has approved the cessation of the Sociocultural Dynamization and Social Intervention Program Ansina to develop a new program for the elderly “much more ambitious and professionalized” that will address the care of the elderly “much beyond leisure in clubs or in the centers for the elderly”, as explained by the Minister of Social Action and President of the Institute for Social and Social Health Action, Marián Franquet, in a press release.

In order to adapt services “to the new circumstances” and to de-escalation, the head of the area has reported that the new plan will begin this summer, “whenever possible”, and that it will address four axes: “autonomy, normalization of the aging process, individualized attention and coordination with all the town councils on the island ”.

In addition, the counselor added that the current program does not meet the needs of the elderly, from retirement to the care stage, reaching only three percent of the population over 65 in Tenerife and 97 being excluded remaining one hundred, where “there are people with a high degree of vulnerability”.

However, from the company committee of the Sociedad Anónima del Cabildo de Tenerife Ideco (on which Ansina depends), the news has been received with surprise and concern. His secretary, Manolo Villalba, has pointed out that “there is no official or written communication,” but that the authorities have verbally informed them that the extension of the contract ends next Sunday, May 31.

In this sense, Villalba reproaches the institution for the lack of justifications: “they have not specified what will happen on Monday (…) tomorrow we have a meeting with the company, but yesterday and this morning we have tried to urgently contact both the Company and the counselor by mail and calls and we have had no response. ” It is something for which the secretary is surprised since the employees “have been working for more than 30 years in the Cabildo. It is a failure towards the workers, it is a failure towards the works council and what we are seeing is that everything is on track , if they do not give another type of explanation, to 60 people, 60 families, in full crisis, “he sentenced.

Finally, in the communiqué forwarded, Franquet stressed that, together with the town councils, “an integral intervention is being worked on, where there will be a greater scope, becoming leisure and free time one more part to begin to attend to aspects such as active aging, the fight against loneliness, cognitive stimulations and actions that contribute to maintaining personal autonomy ”.
