The Cabane à sang festival celebrates its fifth anniversary

The “Hochellywoodian” film festival Cabane à Sang celebrates its fifth anniversary from April 15 to 24. Unlike last year, only one screening will take place in front of the public, at the Ancien Marché Maisonneuve. The others will be presented virtually.

Cabane à Sang (CàS) is an aesthetic genre film festival grindhouse created in 2017 by filmmaker Frank Appache.

Asked last year what distinguishes Cabane à Sang from other festivals of the genre in Montreal, Frank Appache replied that some of the films scheduled would not be screened elsewhere, “because they are too lo-fi Where cheap

What is important for the festival is to encourage emerging filmmakers, that the films are entertaining and that the public has a good time.

A “greasy and juicy” lineup

The festivities will therefore begin on April 15 with a program dedicated solely to science fiction, offered free live on Facebook.

The evening of April 16, at the Ancien Marché Maisonneuve, will be dedicated to horror and trash.

During this public screening, Cabane à Sang will broadcast the Party Pooper Spectacular Trash Film Competitionwhere a dozen directors from Quebec took up the challenge of producing a work with a production budget of barely $200.

And what will the winner of this competition win? A very grand prize of… $200!

Several other films will be presented during this evening, including more than 80 titles from around twenty countries.

The complete program of the festival will then be available on video on demand from April 21 to 24 thanks to the American platform Filmocracy.
