Listeners will be invited to sit in boats and enjoy music – not only the groups “Tautumeitas” and “Dagamba“, but also the modern kokle virtuoso Laima Jansoni.

The “Laiva” festival is like a bridge between traditional, classical values and the modern world, just like the inter-genre in music. Music without borders, the vastness of the lake, the traditions of our ancestors and a modern show – “Laivā” is an opportunity to escape from the daily routine, refreshing in the beauty and peace of nature.

Author of the festival idea Walter Owl explains to the portal “Delfi”: “We are extremely honored that the program of the first festival” Laivā “also agreed to be supplemented by the virtuoso kokleta Laima Jansone. All artists are bright representatives of inter-genre music do the same, only their focus is on ethno music, while Laima Jansone in her kokle game synthesizes the traditional and the contemporary. And as already at the festival, there will be surprises “.

The organizers of the event, taking into account the unusual format of the event, invite all visitors to arrive in time to avoid congestion.

The festival area will be open from August 8 at 17.00 to go on a trip around Lake Jugla and get stuck in the festival dining area. The main entrance will be near the Western Gate of the Open-Air Museum (from Bonaventuras Street). On the day of the event, parking will be allowed on both sides of Brīvības gatve between Jugla and the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum. The organizers recommend using this area for visitors who will rent boats through the organizers, leaving the parking lots closer to the entrance for visitors who will arrive with their boats.

Visitors who plan to come to the event with their boats are asked to plan their route – it will not be possible to approach Lake Jugla individually. There will be two ways to enter the enclosed territory of the festival – by bringing a boat by hand through the land entrance or by crossing one of the three entrance gates to the lake. Entry is guaranteed for rowing boats, SUP boards and motorboats with a lift motor. It is forbidden to bring food and drinks with you to the festival territory.

The organizers also recommend using the easy-to-use bicycle path, which can be used to drive to the Open-Air Museum itself, or public transport in the city of Riga to avoid possible traffic jams.

Festival program:

19.00 Laima Jansone

19.45 Tautumeitas

21.00 DAGAMBA

Entrance to the festival is only for visitors in boats. Entrance tickets and boat reservations are available at “Biļešu paradīze”.
