Forbes launched a list of the 50 richest people in Singapore in 2020. The top rank is occupied by Zhang Yong, boss of restaurant chains hot pot famous in the land of lions.
The global media company, Forbes regularly publishes lists of the richest people in the world or in each country. Most recently, in Singapore they revealed 50 people with fantastic wealth. The top rank is occupied by a billionaire named Zhang Yong.
He is a familiar figure among wealthy Singaporean businessmen because in 2019 he is also at the top of the same list. At that time, the net income reached USD 13.8 billion or more than Rp. 191 trillion.

This year Zhang Yong is getting richer because his total net income is USD 19 billion or around Rp. 279 trillion! It’s not quite here yet, Zhang Yong’s wife Shu Ping is also on the list of the richest people in Singapore this year.
According to Forbes records, this 50-year-old man did not receive a formal education, nor did he graduate from junior high school. But he and his wife were successful in managing a restaurant network hot pot in Jianyang, Sichuan, China named Haidilao. Now this restaurant is also popular in Singapore.

At first Zhang didn’t know how to make Sichuan hot pot. He then ventured into this traditional Chinese food business with three of his friends. One of them is Mr. Zhang’s wife now. He is in charge of seeking funding at the beginning.

Now Haidilao has more than 700 restaurants around the world, including Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. Most of them are in China, which is the ‘hometown’ of this restaurant.
In Indonesia, Haidilao opens outlets in Gandaria City. Visitors can eat hot pot with a choice of one to four flavors of sauce. Some of the choices are the bite-spicy Szechuan mala soup, triple combination soup, tomato soup, rendang soup, and tom yum kung soup.

Then for stuffing hot pot can be selected per serving. For example, premium beef short plates, US Angus Rib Eye beef, to Japanese wagyu beef. Prices start from Rp. 78,000 to Rp. 468,000 per portion.
Besides being famous for its delicious taste, Haidilao also stole the attention with the unique attractions of its restaurant employees. They have a special dance called Haidilao noodle dance. The staff will throw noodles with acrobatic movements which make the dining atmosphere even more exciting.
