The book object as one of the forms of art

This artist covers different disciplines: painting, drawing, graphic work, intervened photography, artist’s book. An extensive curriculum that indicates her participation in salons, biennials, Museums of Artist Books such as that of Alfredo Portillos, exhibitions in the country and abroad.

Goldstein mixes all the techniques and materials, papers, fabrics, stones, metals in a work influenced by Eastern thought. He learned Sanskrit, came into contact with Buddhism and yoga, seeking to express harmony and peace. Unfathomable means that it is so deep that its bottom cannot be analyzed and that it cannot be understood because it is mysterious, difficult and impenetrable. But Goldstein’s work is not cryptic, on the contrary, it takes us to an area marked by spirituality.

In dialogue with the artist, she tells us that in 2009 she began to take photos of holes, stones, trunks, clouds and paths. In the course of time, she had them printed and also intervened with India ink, graphite, grease pencils, and she made the first series of holes for it. In Jean Chevalier’s Dictionary of Symbols, the hole is a symbol of opening to the unknown, it is the expectation or the sudden revelation of a presence; It is related to the symbols of fertility on the biological plane and of spirituality on the psychological plane.

Juan Eduardo Cirlot, also the author of an important Dictionary of Symbols, points out that in many paintings of symbolism, specifically in Gustave Moreau’s Orpheus, perforated rocks appear in the background landscapes with an evident transcendent meaning. Salvador Dalí had as an obsession the practice of regular holes in the form of windows in some of the backs of his characters.

Goldstein has wondered what was at the bottom of those holes he photographed in nature, in the rocks, in the trees, in the ground, in the clouds. These questions are related to his interest in outer space, theories about the universe and black holes.

As for their series “Paths” they refer to the life of each one as their own path that they trace as they live. Stephen Hawking in “Brief Answers to the Big Questions” pointed out that according to quantum theory the universe does not have a single history, but all possible histories, each with its own probability.

The work of this artist is full of spirituality since her themes are related to nature, time, the universe, giving the viewer the opportunity to enter the unfathomable so that as a human being he continues to ask himself questions about existence. Closing on June 3. Arcimboldo Gallery – Reconquista 761. Dep. 14. (Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 pm).
