The Management Board of the State Fund for Agriculture (the Board of the State Fund for Agriculture) approved a financial resource of BGN 2 million for 2024 under a scheme for state help “Aid to compensate the costs of farmers related to the implementation of measures under the “National program of measures to control soil enemies under the potatoes from family Wireworms (Elateridae)“.
The aid was re-notified in 2023, being entered under the number SA.106971 in the Register of State Aids of the European Commission and with a term of application until the end of 2029.
The maximum budget for the implementation period (2023-2029) is BGN 15,000,000.
The purpose of the state aid scheme is to limit losses from the spread of soil pests on potatoes from the family Elateridae on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The aid is provided in the form of compensating part of the costs of farmers for the purchase of plant protection products to control the specified pest, which are subject to the National Program (the Program) of measures to control soil enemies of potatoes from the family Wireworms (Elateridae).
The amount of the aid is up to 100% of the costs of purchasing plant protection products to prevent the spread and destroy the invasion of potato soil pests from the Elateridae family, confirmed in the Program, but not more than BGN 1,200/ha , VAT included.
Farmers can choose the plant protection product to apply themselves.
It should be borne in mind that when the amount of funds requested exceeds the amount of the determined annual budget, a reduction factor is determined, with which the amount of aid for each applicant is recalculated.
The DF “Agriculture”, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, is to prepare guidelines for the provision of aid.
