The poster for the final of the French Championship is known. On Sunday, the Barracudas of Montpellier and the Cougars of Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines) qualified. In the semi-finals, the Montpellier side dismissed Stade Toulousain in four matches (3-12, 4-2, 4-1, 8-1).
For his part, Montigny eliminated the Templars of Sénart (Seine-et-Marne) in five games (2-3, 11-4, 3-10, 4-0, 7-6). The Yvelinois will host the first two matches of the final, next Saturday and Sunday. Match 3 will then be played in Montpellier on September 16, as will any matches 4 and 5 on the 17th. The first team to three wins will be champions.
Montpellier has not been titled since 1995 and had not reached the final since 2015. Montigny-le-Bretonneux has never been champion and lost the 2018 final, its only appearance at this level.
