The Central Election Commission said today that 19,239,392 people were entitled to vote for the constitutional revision of “18-year-old citizenship”. According to the provisions of the amendment to the Constitution, half of the total number of valid votes is required for approval, therefore at least 9,619,697 consent votes are required.
The Central Election Committee issued a press release stating that the 2011 local civil servant election and the first constitutional amendment referendum will be held on November 26, 2011. The election committees of municipalities, counties and cities will announce the number of voters and entitlement voting today number of people.
According to the compiled results, the number of voters for municipalities, counties and cities is 18,967,771, which does not include the number of voters for the re-election of the 11th mayor in Chiayi City; the number of electors for city, county and city councilors is 19,128,745; 5,056,609 electors for mayors, mayors and mayors of Upland Aboriginal districts directly under central government; 5,050,920 voters for townships, townships, citizens’ representatives and Aboriginal district heads of townships directly under central government; 1,902 voters per village and district heads 6,280 people.
In addition, the Central Election Commission said the number of voters for the first bill of the referendum on constitutional amendments was 19,239,392. According to the provisions of the constitutional amendment, after the vote of the voters in the free area of the Republic of China, the vote will be approved if half of the total voters have valid consent votes.
Chen Chaojian, vice chairman of the Central Election Committee, stressed that according to the provisions of the constitutional amendment, since the constitutional revision referendum must be validly approved by half of the total number of voters, it is considered approved according to the law, therefore more than the half of the 19,239,392 voters have 9,619,697 votes.
Chen Chaojian said that if the total number of voters in the constitutional review referendum is nearly 19.24 million, among them first-time voters, estimated by the Interior Ministry in August, are about 760,000.
