It would almost be simplistic to call The Armed a metalcore collective, as the group around singer Tony Wolski – formerly known as Adam Vallely – not only scratches at one genre, but countless ones on their fifth album “Perfect Saviors”. makes your own. In the summer The Armed are on tour with their album and are coming to Germany for two dates.
Prominent colleagues, such as Julien Baker (Boygenius) for the first single “Sport Of Form”, appeared as guests. By accompanying music video Iggy Pop also showed up. Sarah Tudzin, Matt Sweeney, Jacob Bannon (Converge), Chris Slorach (Metz) and Eric Avery (Jane’s Addiction), among others, also contributed to the rotating collective’s new record. Tony Wolski put together the album together with Ben Chrisholm and Troy Van Leeuwen (including Queens Of The Stone Age). Alan Moulder (including Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails) also contributed his part to the mix.
Singer Wolski says more about the album: “Too much information has made us stupid and confused. Too many opportunities to network have inadvertently led to isolation. And too many expectations have forced everyone to become a celebrity. Foreseeable original dangers have given way to newer social dangers. The result is a world that is confusing and frightening – but ultimately still beautiful.” He hopes that the record would be exactly that and is trying – quite unironically – to create the best rock album of the 21st century.
