According to sources close to the club, OM could return to the assault this summer for a transfer from Alban Lafont if the German Alexander Nübel chooses to join LOSC.
Still looking for a goalkeeper this summer to prepare for Steve Mandanda’s succession, Olympique de Marseille would not have abandoned the Alban Lafont track. Definitively recruited by FC Nantes a few weeks ago, the former TFC goalkeeper still wants to leave the Canaries this summer to join a bigger club. To let it slip away, the leaders of FC Nantes will ask for at least 10 million euros, knowing that they have already had to pay 7 million euros to afford it.
But the situation is more complex than expected. According to internal sources, some OM decision-makers would rather favor the Alexander Nübel track. Lining Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich, the 24-year-old German wants to change club next season to regain playing time. On the other hand, he would be more excited at the idea of joining LOSC during the next transfer window to overcome the departure of Mike Maignan. In the North, he would indeed become the indisputable number one, while at OM he will always have to share his playing time with veteran Mandanda. If the LOSC therefore decides to position itself on Nübel during the next transfer window, Olympique de Marseille should opt for the Alban Lafont option.
