The Agricultural Technical Lycée will welcome its students from the 2021-2022 school year in a brand new building located in Gilsdorf, in the town of Bettendorf.
The traditional high school, founded in 1883 in Ettelbruck, presents itself today as an innovative school, which prepares people for the professions of nature.
The educational offer of the LTA encompasses both the lower classes (orientation route) and upper classes (natural sciences section) of general secondary education as well as professional training unique in Luxembourg, in the field of agriculture ( CCP-DAP-DT), horticulture (nursery-landscape gardener, florist, market gardener and floriculture at DAP and CCP level), the natural environment (DAP and DT) and mechatronics (mechatronics engineer, civil engineering at the level DAP and DT and commercial vehicle mechatronics engineer at DAP level). All of these courses offer outlets for a variety of interesting and highly qualified professions.
In Gilsdorf, the school will benefit from modern infrastructure that perfectly meets the requirements of the training offered, including:
- 29 classrooms;
- 27 special rooms (IT, biology, chemistry, physics, agriculture, horticulture, natural and forest environment, artistic education);
- 18 workshops and laboratories (adjustment, mechanics, electrical engineering, wood, metal constructions, horticultural, forestry and agricultural machinery, repair workshop, etc.);
- a hall for agricultural machinery;
- 2 400 m2 greenhouses;
- a multifunctional gym;
- a restaurant and cafeteria;
- library ;
- the psycho-social and school support service (SePAS), etc.
The 600 or so students of the LTA will thus be able to be grouped together on a single site. Only certain practical work carried out in greenhouses or fields will continue to be carried out in Ettelbruck or Bettendorf.
The technical design of the building is distinguished by high-performance thermal insulation, optimal use of natural lighting, natural ventilation for the majority of the premises and the production of heat by a heating plant equipped with a boiler for green waste and chips. of wood in order to maximize the use of renewable energies.
The new site will eventually be able to accommodate up to 800 students and thus offers the possibility of continuing to develop an already well-stocked training offer.
From the start of the 2021-2022 school year, two new courses are offered: the first prepares for the certificate of professional competence of agricultural worker and the second for the diploma of technician in agricultural mechatronics and civil engineering (see all the offers in the attached technical sheet).
