the adventure begins in Le Havre for the 5 young Guyanese winners of

Five young Guyanese footballers, winners of the Pepito 973 challenge, joined the Havre Athletic Club training center yesterday for a one-week training course. The first steps in league 2 towards the top level of a girl and four boys with a lot of future.

Dévy Charlotte Castor, Talila Seika, Lohys Stanislas, Benoît Sida, Indhira François-Drelin. Five names to remember for the future of Guyanese football.

Spotted in April during the detection course organized by the association Les Gold nuggets from 973, the five young people aged 13 to 15 had distinguished themselves out of the 550 players present. An internship organized since 2017 under the honorary presidency of Ludovic Baal, current defender of Stade Brestois in Ligue 1.

The five Guyanese talents have achieved feats on the field and caught the eye of Théodore Faure, assistant coach and physical trainer of HAC Football. They were therefore selected to participate in an immersion course at the Le Havre club training center, from August 22 to 31 inclusive.

A first experience for Dévy, 11 years old

At 11, Dévy Charlotte is the youngest of the adventure in category U 11. This course is a first experience for this player from Remir from the Loyola Olympic Club. Faced with older, more experienced players, he intends to derive maximum benefit from it.

“I am so proud to have been selected. Now, I especially want to represent Guyana and my club. I have to work my mind, my footwork, improve myself to come back stronger. “

Trilingual (Creole, French and Portuguese), Dévy does not worry too much about his adaptation to the climate and environment of Le Havre. Especially since his dad, Daniel Castor, former footballer, made the trip with him thanks to the Guyana Football League.

“It was detected because there are qualities. It is a chance for him to discover the high level in this way. But I ask him to keep his humility and especially to take pleasure in playing. This is most important above all at his age. “

These nuggets of the round ball will evolve in a real situation and will rub shoulders with the best boarding players of the HAC Football training center.

Discover high-level football

The Guyanese will continue training sessions, visit the facilities and they will perhaps attend a match of the professional group.

After Rennes, the association Les Pépites d’Or du 973 signed a partnership agreement with Le Havre Athlétic Club Football. The objective is to allow young talents in the region to discover the environment of a high-level professional structure, or even, for the best, to integrate it.

Talila, the pearl of Agouado

In the group of five, a nugget shines with particular brilliance: Talila Seika, the only girl in the group. Originally from Apatou, the player has been playing in the female U13s under the colors of ASC Agoudo (Agouado sports and cultural association) for 7 years already.

From August 5 to 21, Talita joined the training center of LOSC (Lille Olympique Sporting Club), the 2021 French champion for a first test. Indeed, the player aims to join the pro circuit.

“We are all proud of this young girl from Apatou. Especially since thanks to the involvement of coaches, parents and teachers, Talila has gained three points on average in college between 6th and 5th. “

For her first stay in France, the teenager impressed the LOSC staff with her state of mind, her freshness, her concentration and her talent (speed, rapidity, endurance).

Thus, on Saturday, for her last match under the colors of Lilles, Talila donned the captain’s armband of a team made up of older players (15 years old). A match won 5 to 4 against Hellemmes. A supreme reward!

At the start of the school year, Talila will join the Football sports section of the Gérard-Holder college in Cayenne and take up residence at Ifas. The LOSC meanwhile does not intend to take its eyes off this Guyanese talent. Other immersion internships are under consideration for Talila.

Apatou’s players shine in France

Each year, several young football hopefuls from Apatou join training centers in France. Like Robinho Besini, the first winner of the 973 Gold Nuggets. He completed an immersion course at the Rennes club before joining FC Châlon.

Among the other 2021 laureates, alongside Talita Seika, is Benoît Sida, says Jamy. A young man from Apatou, licensed in the U13 category at Académy FC in Cayenne, in his second year at IFAS.

Three other Apatou players are joining the sports section of the Émiland-Gauthey high school in Châlon-sur-Saône this year:

  • Djouf Sida,
  • Gerson Jasenie
  • Quenciano Yoto

The culmination of the work of the members of the club, the municipality of Apatou and the Guyana Football League.
