The dream of the 16-year-old national team is growing rapidly. Garam Kim (pictured) won the first place in the 2019 Middle and High National Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition, and won the KBS Cup National Rhythm Gymnastics Competition in the middle school solo competition in 2019. There was no opponent of Kim Garam on the junior stage. Garam Kim advanced to the finals in the 2019 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Championships Rope event and took 8th place. The only East Asian player to reach the finals in the rope event. In 2019, Garam Kim was selected as the national representative.

On the 16th, I met Garam Kim, who left Jincheon Athlete’s Village for a holiday on the Lunar New Year holidays. Garam Kim will be enrolled in Incheon Gymnasium next month. Garam Kim said, “In Jincheon Athlete’s Village, we train in the morning from 10 am to 12 pm, and we train in the afternoon from 2 pm to 6 pm.” The coaching staff and seniors take care of this and that kindly.” Garam Kim added, “I am particularly confident in the turn movement,” and added, “I can run 3-4 times when I run faster than anyone else and play twice.”

Garam Kim started rhythmic gymnastics when he was in fourth grade in elementary school. I started ballet for fun when I was a’little boy’, but the ballet teacher recommended rhythmic gymnastics, saying that it has excellent flexibility and a bouncing charm. And her maternal grandmother reported to her granddaughter and daughter after seeing the announcement of recruiting rhythmic gymnasts in elementary school, and through an audition, they made a relationship with rhythmic gymnastics. Coach Son Min-hee (38), who has been instructing Garam Kim since the fourth grade of elementary school, explained, “The biggest advantage of Garam Kim is that she is good at all the detailed events.” Rhythmic gymnastics is divided into rope, hoop, club, ball, and ribbon. Coach Son added, “Garam is a fast and accurate player,” he added. “Since he is a technically outstanding player, if he trains consistently as he is now, he has enough potential to leap to the top of the world.”

Kim Gar-ram, who will follow Shin Su-ji and Son Yeon-jae, will debut on the senior stage this year. The Asian Championship, scheduled to be held in May to June, is the target of Garam Kim. Rhythmic gymnastics has been a senior since high school. The right to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics is at stake in this Asian Championship. Coach Son said, “As this is our first senior international tournament, we are putting the point in getting used to it.” “It is still young and growing, but in 2024, when the Paris Olympics are held, Garam is in its heyday. I’m watching.”

National team, but a teenage girl. The face is small enough to be covered with a CD, and features are clear. Although training is difficult, Garam Kim receives’reward’ while watching and listening to boy group NCT. Bread is the most favorite thing to eat at Jincheon Athlete’s Village, a buffet style. That’s why it is called’Bangsoon’. Garam Kim said, “The super cool NCT brothers give comfort, and the TV drama helps us wash away our fatigue,” and “Eating bread gives me strength.”

Rhythmic gymnastics, however, costs a lot. It takes tens of millions of won to leave the field training. After achieving good results at the 2019 World Junior Championships, a call came from a school in Moscow, Russia, a powerhouse in rhythmic gymnastics. However, I gave up because the training cost was over 30 million won per month. Four clothes must be prepared each year, 1.5 to 2 million won per suit. If you create a pattern and make it yourself, it is around 700,000 won. So, my younger brother draws pictures on clothes, and my mother wears jewelry and makes them by hand while staying up all night. I made only two sets this year when I went to high school. In particular, her maternal grandmother is looking after her granddaughter who will not hurt even if she put it in her eyes while cleaning the building.

Recently, a reliable support has appeared for Kim Garam. Rhythmic gymnastics, or no amateur sports, has a sponsorship group. “Securing economic stability for a bright future is our top priority,” said Byeon Do-sik, chairman of Garam Kim’s talent, passion, and a bright future. Said.
