2023 Subaru Outback, three-quarter rear
—
Subaru today introduced a revised and refreshed 2023 Outback at the New York Auto Show, revealing a revised front end for the popular model and a host of new and improved technologies for the interior.
The front end of the Outback has been redesigned and features a more prominent grille, redesigned LED headlights and fog lights, and added protection for the front bumper. The effect is to create a more robust looking vehicle.
This effect is further enhanced by the presence of contrasting color moldings under the headlights and on the wheel arches.

Inside, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless system is now integrated into the multimedia system accessible on the 11.6-inch screen included in the upper trim levels of the 2023 Outback. The navigation system incorporates location technology what3words, a first in a Subaru.
The top-of-the-line version has a new wide-angle camera linked to the dual-camera EyeSight system, which provides better visibility for spotting pedestrians, cyclists and the like.
There are no changes to report under the hood, since the 2023 Outback gets the same engine duo: a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder developing 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, or a 2.4 turbo liters generating up to 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
The EyeSight system, already full of driving assistance and safety functions, has been added Emergency Steering Assistance. It works with the pre-collision braking system to help drivers avoid accidents when the car is moving under 80 km/h. Both systems work in tandem with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with manual mode and, of course, Subaru’s ubiquitous symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.
Subaru has yet to announce pricing for the 2023 Outback, which should appear in dealerships in the coming months. These prices should come as the launch date approaches.
