“The 200 Most Common Passwords in the World: Find Out How Easy It is to Get Hacked”

I didn’t know before that May 4th is International Password Day. Well, in honor of that, the company “NordPass” has published a study, which reveals what they are currently 200 most popular passwords in the world and individually in 30 countries. The study also found that most (83%) of them can be hacked in less than a second.

NordPass notes that “despite growing awareness of cyber security, old habits are hard to break.” The study shows that people still use weak passwords both on social networks and on websites where they store important information.

Currently, the ten most popular passwords in the world are:

1. password;
2. 123456;
3. 123456789;
4. guest;
5. qwerty;
6. 12345678;
7. 111111;
8. 12345;
9. col123456;
10. 123123.

The remaining 190 passwords and their average cracking time can be found at NordPass in the study.

The study separately examined password usage habits in 30 countries, including Lithuania. Out of interest, I took a look at what our neighbors’ favorite and easiest passwords are:
