The 16th University Sports Day is being celebrated on June 6

As the University of Patras announced today, the 16th Sports Day will be held in its sports facilities of the gym on Tuesday, June 6, and throughout the day.

Students, Employees of the University of Patras, as well as friends and citizens of Patras who have a membership card of the University Gym will compete in various sports.

The final stages of the following interdepartmental student championships in Football, Basketball, volley and Beach Volleyball will be completed on the Sports Day. Classical Sports events will also be held in the following sports: 100m. Students, 100m. Foitirio, 100m. Teachers, other Employees, Friends, 400m. Students, 400m. Foitirio, 800m. Foitirio, 1500m. Students, 1500m. etc. It was also announced that Georgios Varelas, EDIP of the University, will be awarded by the University Gymnasium, for the poster he created and which was selected in the 3rd Bike Ride Poster Competition, which took place on May 7.

The 16ththe Sports Day is supported by the University of Patras and the Sports Committee of the Higher Institution. It is also supported by E.P.S. Achaia and the Association of Classic Sports Judges of Northern Peloponnese. The organizational responsibility is the members of the special educational staff (E.E.P.) of Physical Education of the University Gymnasium, the administrative staff of the Gymnasium as well as the seconded Physical Education teachers in the University Gymnasium for 2022-2023.

In his message, the coordinator of the University Gymnasium, member of the E.E.P. of Physical Education, Mr. Aris Angelopoulos, highlights the importance of the long-term support and realization of the institution of the “Sports Day of the University of Patras”, stating emphatically that “when mass sport begins in the areas of Education and organized and healthy physical sports, it can achieve lifelong balance between mental and physical activity, mental and physical euphoria”.
