Defeat Indonesian National team from Thailand proves that Garuda is still out of level. Shin Tae-yong said War Elephant and Vietnam were still the best in ASEAN.
The Indonesian national team was made helpless by Thailand in the first leg of the final AFF Cup 2020. Shin Tae-yong’s foster children lost with a landslide score of 0-4 in the match held at the National Stadium, Wednesday (29/12/2021).
Not only losing by score, the Indonesian national team was also made to play defensively. Asnawi Mangkualam Cs could only take advantage of counter attacks to threaten the Thai goal.
Seeing this match, Shin Tae-yong admitted that the quality of Thailand was still far above the Indonesian national team.
“Honestly, I can’t judge by this one match alone. But Vietnam and Thailand are the best teams in Southeast Asia,” said Shin Tae-yong when giving the press after the match.
“It has been proven in this AFF Cup. I admit Thailand is better than us with this defeat,” he added.
The Korean coach asked his players not to give up in the second leg. Even though they lost badly, the fighting spirit must still be shown.
He hopes that the Indonesian national team will not be further destroyed in the second leg, Saturday (1/1/2022). Moreover, they have received such great support from the Indonesian people.
“Indeed, if you look at the match this time it is impossible, but the ball is still round if we work hard until the end. We have to work hard for the fans too, it will also give the best results,” said Shin Tae-yong.
