Vietnam’s most populous city is scheduled to test 100,000 people every day. This was stated by the city’s leader Nguyen Thanh Phong at an emergency meeting on Sunday, according to the online newspaper VnExpress.
Earlier in the day, the authorities announced that the city will enter a two-week period of social distancing from Monday. It is the first time since April 2020 that the city of Ho Chi Minh City has introduced such distance rules.

The variant
This happens after more than 100 new cases of infection were found in connection with a recent outbreak where the source of the infection is unknown.
Across the city, it is now forbidden to gather more than ten people outside workplaces or hospitals. At the same time, a distance requirement of two meters must be enforced.
