Tested positive on aircraft – isolated himself on the toilet for five hours

Teacher Marisa Fotieo from Michigan in the USA traveled from Chicago to Reykjavik in late December, when she noticed that she was starting to get a sore throat.

Fotieo took a quick test for the corona on the plane for safety, and after a short time the test showed two red lines.

This indicates a positive test, and Fotieo was thus able to detect corona on the plane, midway between the USA and Iceland.

To CNN says Fotieo, who is both fully vaccinated and has received a booster dose, that she had taken two PCR tests and five rapid tests, all of which gave a negative result before the trip.

When she got a sore throat on the plane, she wanted to take another quick test to calm down, and was therefore surprised when she saw the test result.

Isolated on toilet

To protect the 150 other passengers and staff on the plane, the teacher chose to self-insulate in one of the plane’s toilets for the rest of the trip. Thus, she sat on the plane for five hours.

Fotieo filmed and shared the event on TikTok, and the clip has been viewed more than 4.5 million times. There you can see that she is sitting on the plane with water bottles and chips.

– Thanks to Icelandair for my VIP quarantine room, it says in the TikTok description.

– An angel

To NBC Fotieo said that it was all a crazy experience, but thanked a woman among the staff at Icelandair for following her up and making sure she had everything she needed.

“She made sure I had everything I needed for the next five hours of food and drink, and followed me up continuously to make sure I was well,” Fotieo told NBC.

The holiday trip to Iceland thus ended in isolation, but Fotieo got both flowers and a small Christmas tree from the same flight attendant.

“It was so real, and she’s just an angel,” Fotieo told NBC about the gesture.
