Here is the new Sony ZV-1, a compact expert for vlogging. We spent almost two weeks with it and the best way to present it to you is via a vlog since it is his field of choice. Verdict.
New ZV-1 is a new range of expert compacts from the Japanese manufacturer to meet the needs of videographers and other travelers. If it takes the essentials of the RX-100 range with in particular a sensor Exmor RS 1 inch, it had some small modifications like the touch screen and swivel to allow easier use in the wonderful world of vlogging.

In terms of characteristics, the ZV-1 therefore offers a 1 inch CMOS sensor Exmor RS of 20.1 Megapixels, an objective Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T with a focal range of 24-70mm and an opening F / 1.8-2.8, a processor Bionz X (the same as on the Alpha 9 II), a speed of 20 fps in burst, the development Eye AF in real time and real-time tracking for video that allows the ZV-1 to remain locked on the subject’s eye or face or to move seamlessly from one subject to another while controlling, if necessary, the MAP speed and sensitivity. The whole thing is only 294g on the scale.
Obviously we find recording 4K, HLG, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HDR) formats / S-Gamut3.Cine / S-Log3, S-Gamut3 / S-Log3 but also new useful functions. We start with the Bokeh Switch which allows background blurring without losing focus on the subject. Another function, Product Presentation, allows fast and smooth transitions between the subject’s face and an object, always convenient. And finally, automatic exposure with priority on the face which makes it possible to best adjust the environment while keeping good exposure on the face. We finish on the new stabilization SteadyShot, optimized for video which how much optical stabilization and electronic stabilization.
