Test-Achats denounces: 7 ineffective sunscreens!

When buying sunscreen, we often tend to rely on the SPF mentioned on the packaging. Which doesn’t always seem like a reliable source. This is at least what emerges from the tests carried out by Test-Achats. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis, the consumer organization received a second wave of results from the laboratory. Four new sunscreens are added to the previous results.

Last year, the organization pointed to Isdin, a spray for children, which promised SPF protection of 50 + when it was barely 15. This year, 7 of the 41 products analyzed do not comply the SPF or UVA protection index mentioned on their packaging.

The Lovea, Caudalie and Rituals sprays are supposed to have an SPF of 30. However, Lovea does not exceed an SPF of 15 whereas Rituals and Caudalie reached an SPF of 20 during the first test against 15 during the second. The sprays from Lovea and Caudalie were also just as disappointing when it came to UVA protection.

Biosolis SPF 30 sunscreen does not offer sufficient protection against UVA rays, whether in lotion or spray. Hema Kids SPF 50 and Zwitsal sun spray 50 +, products intended for children, apparently only reach an SPF of 30. Since then, Hema and Rituals have revealed that from this summer a new product will gradually replace the old on the market. Test-Achats complained to the FPS Public Health about the products concerned.

Once again, the test revealed that high price does not mean quality. No need to opt for expensive products. Better to use an inexpensive product to apply generously and regularly than skimp with a cream that will have cost the eyes of the head.
