In April, Tesla launched an update to the Autopilot function for autonomous driving mode. The subject of the software supplement were systems for detecting “Stop” signs and traffic lights. However, this update is still a beta version, and now it has been found in normal operation that it quite often confuses the brand calling for a stop with the advertising sign of the fast food chain Burger King. Electrek.co pointed out the funny event.

The marketing department of the chain reacted very briskly to this, coming up with the idea of using the mistakes to their advantage. During the one-day campaign, he called on drivers, only those from Tesla with an autopilot, to stop for a free snack in a similar case. The condition was to share the video or photo with the exchange of tags with the hashtag #AutopilotWhopper or #FreeWhopper.
A couple of drivers took the event and added posts to Twitter under the mentioned hashtags. In neither case, however, was it an error in the Autopilot function, but in the ingenuity of the contributors. However, the promotion was successful, as some contributions were seen by more than a million users.
