Tesla will recall more than 475,000 electric cars for service

Tesla Inc. will recall more than 475,000 Model 3 and Model S electric vehicles to address trunk and rear-view problems that increase the risk of accidents, the U.S. Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Thursday. quoted by Agerpres.

Tesla officials did not comment.

In the pre-opening of the New York Stock Exchange meeting, the shares of the American electric vehicle manufacturer decreased by 1.1%.

Last year, Tesla delivered a million vehicles to its customers.

NHTSA has opened an investigation into 580,000 Tesla vehicles following the carmaker’s decision to allow drivers to play various video games on car screens while on the move.

Subsequently, Tesla did not allow these operations while the vehicles were in motion.

In August, NHTSA announced that it had initiated the formal investigation procedure into Tesla’s autopilot system, following a series of accidents involving emergency vehicles.

The investigation targets 765,000 vehicles, which is almost everything Tesla has sold in the United States since its launch in 2014.

Since 2018, NHTSA has identified 11 accidents in which Tesla cars “came close to first aid sites and hit one or more vehicles involved in these situations.” 17 injuries and one victim were reported in these accidents.

NHTSA will conduct a preliminary assessment of autopilot on the Y, X, S and 3 models produced by Tesla from 2014-2021.
