Tesla Model Y owners found electrical tape and wooden blocks under the hood of revolutionary electric cars

Tesla has been doing well lately and has become the world’s most valuable car company this year. But the manufacturer still assembles many of his cars with the active use of manual labor, and it seems that craftsmen from garage cooperatives are involved in the assembly.

Recent discussions in Tesla Motors Club, and then on Reddit show that some Tesla Model Y owners noticed an unusual system for attaching radiators under the hood of a car: the cooling systems were supplemented with pieces of something that looked like bamboo or an artificial tree from a nearby building supermarket, tied with something like electrical tape.

Definitely, this is not what the owners of expensive and advanced electric cars want to see. However, as reported, such a peculiar fastening system is not seen on all Tesla Model Y cars. But it is strange that such “creativity” passed the quality check and went to retail.

“Someone ran to Home Depot [торговая сеть по продаже инструментов для ремонта и стройматериалов]to ensure the performance of the second quarter “, – read the caption under the first photo на Tesla Motors Club… It took the author about 10 hours to disassemble his Model Y as he encountered a bad panel installation. When everything was taken apart, he noticed a bright green tape glued to a large piece of metal through faux wood inserts.

After that, a number of other Tesla Model Y owners published their own images of the same place in the car. The silver box shown here is a car’s Liquid Cooled Condenser (LCC) radiator, through which refrigerant is passed to remove heat from various parts of the car.

It looks like the taped pieces of faux wood are designed to relieve stress from the clamp holding the metal piece to the LCC. Previously, there were videos that showed that the same the system was held special plastic parts in the past, so it could be a new “wooden version” from Tesla. However, it is still surprising to find pieces of wood strapped to the Model Y.

Forum participants suggested that Home Depot is located near the Tesla plant and from time to time employees visit it when a lack of certain standard parts is discovered. Some people even considered such replacement of standard plastic inserts with wooden blocks as a perfectly acceptable practice. And to some it may seem like a more environmentally friendly solution than plastic.
