Tesla introduced the Powerwall 3 home power backup system. It differs from similar installations of previous generations by supporting higher power and having a built-in inverter for solar panels, which makes it easier to connect them to the system.

The dimensions of the updated Powerwall 3 battery are 110 × 61 × 19.3 cm, weight is 130 kg. Visually, the new product has changed slightly compared to its predecessors. From the obvious: the Tesla inscription was replaced with a logo in the form of the letter “T”. The capacity of Powerwall 3 is 13.5 kWh, the same as Powerwall 2. But the output power has increased from 10 kW to 11.5 kW.
Powerwall 3 has an integrated inverter supporting six solar panels. The same Powerwall Plus model, as The Verge writes, offers the connection of only four. The energy conversion efficiency of the inverter in Powerwall 3 is stated at 97.5%.
Powerwall 3 does not support connecting third-party solar inverters and is not compatible with previous generation Tesla batteries, such as the Powerwall 2. Additionally, it is unclear whether Powerwall 3 supports connecting commercially available solar panels for previous generation systems, The Verge notes.
The ability to combine several Powerwall 3 allows you to increase the total system capacity to 40.5 kWh. Powerwall 3 claims a guaranteed service life of 10 years.
The company did not disclose the cost of the Powerwall 3 battery. The first deliveries of Tesla’s new home backup power system will have to wait until 2024, but in the meantime, until October 31, the company is offering a $500 discount on the purchase of Powerwall 2 and Powerwall Plus batteries with or without solar panels.
